In its latest edition, Metal Architecture featured EcoSteel’s work at West Harbor, a waterfront development in San Pedro, California. A pre-engineered metal building company, EcoSteel serves commercial and industrial projects across the United States. The article describes three pre-engineered metal buildings the company engineered and supplied for Phase 1B of the project.
As frequent suppliers of pre-engineered metal buildings for retail projects, EcoSteel’s buildings fit right in with the new project. West Harbor is a $500 million, 42-acre development that offers one mile of direct waterfront access, a harbor promenade, a boutique amusement park, and a mix of dining and entertainment.¹ EcoSteel’s three West Harbor buildings, which face a public promenade and play area, feature open interiors for future tenant needs.¹
Metal Architecture’s feature highlights how EcoSteel designed its buildings to handle the salt spray, rain, and corrosive air that come with a coastal setting. Marine-grade coatings protect the metal facade, which works as a rainscreen. The standing seam insulated metal roof panels add continuous insulation and act as an air and water barrier. Large glazed openings and exposed steel framing complete the industrial look.¹
“Coastal projects ask a lot of a building,” said David Scott, COO of EcoSteel. “We take on projects that are a little bigger and a little more complex, and we’re glad to see this one recognized. Architects and developers want open interiors that stay flexible for future tenants. We engineer and supply buildings with that goal in mind.”
EcoSteel engineers every building in 3D and supplies structural framing, metal supports, and second-level flooring and decking in every package. It also covers roofing, wall sheeting, and insulation. Certified metal building erectors assemble the buildings on site.
The company works to turn permitted structural drawings around quickly, which makes a big difference while lead times across the industry remain long. “Customer service is a big part of what we sell,” Scott added. “We get permitted drawings turned around fast so projects stay on schedule.” The company’s gallery shows more pre-engineered metal building projects across commercial and industrial categories.
Metal Architecture’s coverage puts EcoSteel’s work at the forefront of the metal construction industry. The company continues to take on larger and more complex projects for architects, contractors, and developers across the United States. For more information, visit EcoSteel.com.
